Referees

We are always on the look out for new referees across our teams.

U9s

The youngest team in the club, Year 4 at school.  This team play 5-a-side with no offside rule, using size 3 balls.

This age group is focused on team development and introduction to team-play. For many it will be the first opportunity to pay in matches.

When and where do we play?

Matches are played on a Saturday Morning as part of the EEYFL league. Training is Fridays 5:30pm at Orleans Park School.

A youth soccer team of young children wearing red and black jerseys sitting on the ground with two coaches. In the background, children are playing soccer and practicing on a field with trees and buildings nearby.

U10s

Year 5 at school.  The two U10s teams play 7-a-side, still with no offside rule, but the pitches are larger and the goals wider.

Still focused on team development and match play, the U10s provides plenty of opportunity to learn more about positional play and  is a good opportunity to settle into 7-a-side for the next two years.

U11s

Year 6 at school. Continuing with 7-a-side developmental football, there is no offside rule at this age, so the focus stays on enjoying the game and building confidence on the ball. This group is still in The FA’s Foundation Phase, where football is about learning through play in preparation for the competitive matches the following year.

U12s

Year 7 at school. The U12s move up to 9-a-side on a larger pitch providing opportunity for positional play. Offside is introduced at this age, which is a new challenge for players to understand. The FA’s Youth Development Phase begins, and coaches build on technical skills like passing, receiving and finishing, while helping players see how they fit into the team.

U13s

Year 8 at school. The U13s continue 9-a-side with offside, on the same pitch and goals as the U12s. Players are growing quickly, so the coaching balances challenge with confidence, preparing them for the step up to 11-a-side next year.

U14s

Year 9 at school. The U14s make the move to 11-a-side on a full-size youth pitch. This is a big step in space and responsibility, and players learn to adapt to bigger teams and longer distances. Physical differences between players become more noticeable at this stage, so the club gives every player a fair chance to develop at their own pace.

U15s

Year 10 at school. The focus moves towards competitive match play, with players expected to understand team systems, read the game and take more responsibility on the pitch. Coaches work on the whole player, covering technical, physical, psychological and social development, because confidence and resilience matter as much as ball skills.

U16s

Many players are also balancing football with important school exams, so the club works to support them in both.
